Alexandra Schwartz

Music Teacher

Alexandra earned her bachelor’s degree and masters degree in music
education from Portland State University. She has had the pleasure of teaching
general music and orchestra classes all over the Portland community from in school
to after school programs from grades K-12 in private and group class settings. She
has enjoyed her musical teaching experiences for the Portland Public School District,
David Douglas School District, and Lake Oswego School District and excited for this
new opportunity within the Clark County school district to impact even more
students. During this time, she has also worked with many community organizations
to bring music and the arts, especially string instruments, into the hands of students
with Bravo Youth Orchestras, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and Vibe of
Portland.
Although Alexandra loves teaching and sharing musical experiences with
students while learning with them, she also enjoys performing and staying active in
the Portland music community. She plays cello with the Sunnyside Symphony
Orchestra and with small ensemble groups. She also has a lot of fun performing with
local bands in the Portland music scene on electric cello and attending shows
whenever possible.
When she is not teaching, performing, or watching music, you can find her
exploring nature in any way possible whether hiking a mountain, camping in a
forest, swimming in a river, soaking in a hot spring, or exploring the beautiful Pacific
Northwest. In the summertime, Alexandra has had amazing opportunities to wok at
various camps across the country with international students to help them learn
English and lead activities. Her mission as a teacher is to encourage students to be
life long learners, like herself, by continuing to learn to perform music, attend
multiple teaching workshops and travel the world whenever possible to have new
experiences.
