Courtney earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Oregon State University, and her Master of Education from the University of Oregon. She began teaching in the Evergreen School District, then moved to the Camas School District where she continued teaching high school English. During this time she focused on remedial writing instruction, portfolio-based assessment, and curriculum creation. She also completed the National Board Teacher Certification program in English Language Arts. Additionally, Courtney worked as an advisor to student leadership groups and was co-lead on international student trips to Greece and Italy.
Courtney joined the Gardner team in 2018, working with Klickitat and Tahoma students. She lives with her husband and two children, Rachel and Noah, on a property with two cats, two dogs, and 15 chickens. She is a scout leader with the 45th Columbia River Scouts, and she and her family enjoy camping adventures and exploring new beaches.
