Gardner School - Country Friends Campus
Country Friends Childcare is now part of Gardner School of Arts & Sciences!
Read more about the history of our schools and how we’ll continue serving children and families below.
Gardner School is proud to carry on the legacy of play-based, community centered childcare in the heart of Hockinson. Founded by Ebie Mountford in 1995, Country Friends Childcare is an institution in early childhood education in Clark County. Also founded in 1995, Gardner School has grown to be a leader in progressive education and experiential learning on our 5-acre campus near Salmon Creek. Both Gardner School and Country Friends focus on the outdoors, exploratory play-based learning, and the principle that teachers follow the lead of the children to help them grow and shine. We invite you to learn more about our team, our mission, and what makes Gardner School unique on our website and on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube.
Gardner’s Board of Trustees and administrative team embrace the traditions of Country Friends. Our schools have been connected professionally over the years, and Gardner School’s Acting Head of School is proud to call herself a Country Friends alumni, with many happy memories with her children of Beach Day, English Tea, and more!
By bringing our schools together, our shared values of courage, curiosity, creativity, and connection will help guide the foundational work we do to teach and inspire children now, and for years to come.
