Emily Figgz
Klickitat (Grades 5&6) Teacher
Emily Figgz’s classroom is a welcoming and inclusive space where every student is valued for who they are. Emily grew up in Vancouver, WA, and attended the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, where she developed a deep love for music, visual arts, and dance. Her experiences there solidified her belief in the importance of integrating arts and academics to enhance student learning.
Emily began her journey in education as a Reading and Literacy Instructor for The Washington Reading Corps and later as a Special Education Paraeducator. These roles inspired her to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She has since worked as a substitute teacher, gaining diverse classroom experience.
Currently, Emily is advancing her education by nearing completion of her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. In her classroom, Emily strives to create a community of care where every student feels supported, appreciated, and loved. She fosters a class family environment, encouraging students to support and uplift each other in celebration of the challenging moments and when times get tough. Emily's commitment to student well-being and her passion for arts integration are at the heart of her teaching philosophy.
Emily got married in 2023, and she and her husband, James, love spending time with their dog, George. They primarily spend their time loving and caring for him. Outside of school, Emily can also be found reading a good book, working on a challenging puzzle, and picking up new hobbies that will stretch her mind.
