Julia Lazaroff

Wy'East (Grade 3 & 4) Teacher

Julia Lazaroff’s classroom is a place where all are welcome and known. She prides herself on creating a classroom environment built on positive relationships, incorporating social emotional learning, and using strategies that support student-autonomy. Julia also specializes in Arts Integration, so you will find evidence of learning in the classroom by observing student artwork all around. Arts Integration allows Julia to teach and assess students in creative ways, which also leads to higher engagement and deeper learning.

Julia grew up in Wisconsin, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Ready for an adventure (and to escape those Wisconsin Winters), she started her teaching career at a private school in Honolulu, Hawaii. After her husband’s time in the Navy concluded, it was time to settle somewhere, which is how they found themselves in Vancouver. Previously during her time here in Washington, Julia has been teaching at a fully virtual school while also pursuing her master’s degree. Now, she is ready to return to the in-person classroom and comes to Gardner with a Master’s of Education in educational psychology from The University of Missouri.

When Julia is not teaching, you can find her exploring local coffee shops, baking yummy sweets, teaching herself how to sew, or out hiking with her dog, Cleo.
